Adios, Netscape
AOL ha anunciado que la versión 7.1 de Netscape será la última. Ayer publiqué en Gsmbox un artículo sobre el fin de aquel que fue el navegador más usado de Internet. Corto y pego un fragmento:
"Aunque la dura competencia con Microsoft fue la puntilla, Netscape fue responsable de su propio fracaso en la batalla de los navegadores. El éxito de otros programas, como Quicktime o Real Player frente a Windows Media Player de Microsoft, demuestran que se puede aguantar el envite de Bill Gates si se cuenta con un buen producto. El navegador Netscape sucumbió por culpa de su rigidez. Su ambicioso desarrollo –que incluía un gestor de correo, una herramienta de diseño, un programa de mensajería y un chat– se volvió en su contra ya que ralentizaba el rendimiento y hacía interminable –sobre todo con un módem de los de antes– el tiempo de descarga necesario para el instalador."
Menos mal que nos queda Mozilla Firebird.

Me da a mi que algo parecido les pasó a los de ICQ. Mejor hacer algo que haga una cosa bien, que el monstruo q ya era el ICQ en sus versiones de hace 3 años. Lo mismo un día me lo bajo para ver a lo q ha llegado... curiosidad.
Sí, pobre ICQ. Y mira que tenía cuota de mercado hace cinco años.
